3. Crosslinguistic influence in language and cognition
Tác giả: Scott Jarvis, Aneta Pavlenko
Nội dung: A cogent, freshly written synthesis of new and classic work concerning crosslinguistic influence, or “transfer,” this book will become the authoritative account of transfer in second-language learning and its consequences for language and thought. Transfer in both production and comprehension is treated extensively, and new ideas such as the distinction between semantic and conceptual transfer, lateral transfer, and reverse transfer are given the attention they deserve. The book will be of considerable interest to students and scholars in the fields of second language acquisition, bilingualism, and applied linguistics.
4. Cultural intelligence: A guide to working with people from other cultures

5. Current developments in English for academic, specific and occupational purposes
Tác giả: Mark Krzanowski
Nội dung: Current Developments in English for Academic, Specific and Occupational Purposes is a collection of papers which reflect the diversity and multiplicity of strands that international EAP and ESP practitioners of the 21st century are engaged in across all the continents. Most of the papers in the book are contributions of the members of the ESP SIG at IATEFL (although there are a couple of ‘guest’ submissions), and were presented at the IATEFL Conferences in Cardiff (2005) and Harrogate (2006). The IATEFL ESP SIG hopes that the book proves a useful compendium for teachers, lecturers, teacher trainers, trainees and students of TESOL, ELT or Applied Linguistics.
6. Corpus use and translating: Corpus use for learning to translate and learning corpus use to translate
Tác giả: Allison Beeby, Patricia Rodríguez Inés và Pilar Sánchez-Gijón
Nội dung: Professional translators are increasingly dependent on electronic resources, and trainee translators need to develop skills that allow them to make the best use of these resources. The aim of this book is to show how CULT (Corpus Use for Learning to Translate) methodologies can be used to prepare learning materials, and how novice translators can become autonomous users of corpora. Readers interested in translation studies, translator training and corpus linguistics will find the book particularly useful. Not only does it include practical, technical advice for using and learning to use corpora, but it also addresses important issues such as the balance between training and education and how CULT methodologies reinforce student autonomy and responsibility. Not only is this a good introduction to CULT, but it also incorporates the latest developments in this field, showing the advantages of using these methodologies in competence-based learning.
